About PLAY

PLAY is an Icelandic low-cost airline, launched after WOW Air ceased operations in March 2019. Its entrance brings competition to the national carrier, Icelandair. The airline focuses on providing services between Iceland and Europe. PLAY operates a fleet of narrowbody aircraft, specifically the Airbus A320 family. Flights are operated from Keflavik Airport to destinations in Spain, Germany, Denmark, and the United Kingdom, with London Stansted as the first-ever destination.

PLAY Classes

PLAY offers all-economy aircraft with a 3x3 seating configuration across the cabin. Passengers do not receive any additional benefits included with their tickets and must purchase these if required. Complimentary meal service or checked baggage is not offered free of charge.

As of December 2021, PLAY operates multiple destinations from its base at Reykjavik Airport (KEF). The airline also plans to begin services to a wider range of European cities in the first half of 2022.

Check-In Information

Check-In Online

Online check-in opens 24 hours before and closes one hour before the scheduled departure time.

The process is straightforward and can be completed via the PLAY airline website in just a few minutes.

Once completed, passengers obtain their boarding passes, which can be used to scan at the boarding gates and check-in kiosks at the airport.

Airport Check-In

Passengers must check in online and print the bag tags at the airport using the self-service kiosks provided.

Once the bags are tagged, they can be dropped off at the baggage drop counters before proceeding to airport security.

It is recommended to arrive at the airport two hours before departure and report to the check-in counters upon arrival. Passengers late for check-in or boarding will lose their tickets.

Baggage Allowance

Carry-On Baggage

Passengers are allowed one personal item that must fit within 42cm x 32cm x 25cm (17" x 13" x 10") and not exceed 10kg (22 lbs).

Additional carry-on baggage can be purchased, not exceeding 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (22" x 18" x 10") and 12kg (26 lbs).

Items must fit within the overhead lockers or under the seat. Otherwise, they must be transported as checked baggage.

Checked Baggage

Checked baggage is not included in the fare but can be purchased, provided it does not exceed 20kg (44 lbs) and 158cm (62") in the sum of three dimensions.

No individual baggage can exceed 32kg.

Can I pay bag fees with the PLAY online web check-in?

Yes, baggage allowance can be purchased during check-in until it closes. Payment can be made with a saved credit card or a new card added to your account.

When do I need to be at the PLAY boarding gate?

Boarding starts 60 to 25 minutes before departure. Check the airport screens or the KLM app for the latest status. Scheduled boarding time can be found on your boarding pass.

How do I know if my PLAY flight is refundable?

All flight tickets are non-refundable unless cancellation protection was purchased at the time of booking. If applicable, refunds are provided except for the cancellation protection fee, provided appropriate documents are submitted.
